KPMG's team of transaction advisors succeeded in the category announced jointly for the Czech and Slovak markets. The competition was organised by the Czech Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (CVCA) and its Slovak counterpart (SLOVCA). KPMG also scored in the category of private equity transaction of the year in Slovakia.
Both CVCA and SLOVCA bring together companies and professionals from the investment community. They include major funds, banks, insurance companies, consultancies and law firms.
Members of both associations nominate their favourites in eight competition categories. In each of these categories, an expert jury then selects three finalists.
"We very much appreciate the award, as it was decided on by all members of the association active in mergers and acquisitions. I see the award as a confirmation that our services are of the highest quality. I am even more pleased that we had extremely strong competition in the final round from two other very important players in the market," says Igor Mesensky, KPMG’s partner in charge of mergers and acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe. "Our victory was most likely aided by us closing the highest number of transactions last year. We also consistently have one of the most experienced teams of M&A specialists," Mesensky adds.
In 2021, KPMG was involved in closing a record 13 transactions as lead financial advisor, making it the most successful M&A advisor on the Czech market. The second-ranked firm brokered seven transactions, according to Mergermarket's professional database.
Among the largest transactions involving KPMG last year was the sale of Best, the long-time Czech industry leader in the production of concrete building components.
